This Sony High Speed HDMI to HDMI Cable is for use with any equipment that supports the HDMI 1.3a specification, and is also backwards-compatible with earlier versions. This Version 1.3a, Category 2 type cable will support lossless output of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio streams for external decoding by AV receivers, such as used on HD DVDs and Blu-ray Discs.
HDMI is an all-digital audio/video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams. HDMI provides an interface between any compatible digital audio/video source, such as a set-top box, a DVD player, a video game system such as the PlayStation 3, or an A/V receiver and compatible digital audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (HDTV). It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.
