Kodak is doing very bad by NOT permitting non Lithium battery in any of their recent digicams. Li batteries are always costly & not easily available (compared to normal AA batteries). ALL the digicams SHOULD be compatible to normal AA batteries.

Kodak & other companies are trying to create monopoly by having their own batteries. You can't use normal AA batteries in their digital cameras.

I was very disappointed in Kodak when you buy Kodak AA batteries recommended by the store and could not use them in the Z1085 IS to get performance.

Very difficult to use. Instructions were printed so small I couldn't read them with a magnifying glass, I had to scan them into my computer and enlarge them

I have the same camera.Not sure if you solved your problem but you need to use AA LITHIUM batteries. Do NOT USE AA Alkaline or AA NiMH/NI Cd. THEY DO NOT WORK

I am very sorry I bought a Kodak Camera that only uses Li ion batteries instead of AA batteries. They are very expensive and just had a whole Disney World vacation almost ruined because battery went dead and would not recharge and Disney World did not sell Kodak Batteries for the M1073 IS Kodak camera...out of luck!!!!
