True Multi-channel Surround Sound from a Single Component
This single component houses 42 individual speakers, each driven by a separate digital amplifier, to create a true multi-channel surround environment.

 Yamaha Digital Sound Projector
The digital sound projector technology used in this compact system controls the direction of sound from its speakers by focusing it into beams. When sound reflects off the walls in the room, it sounds like there are actually speakers behind and to the side of the listener. These multi-channel sound beams are created using sophisticated algorithms that take advantage of controlled sound dispersions to sculpt the multi-channel experience.

 Streamlined & Elegant
The slim and stylish YSP1 is ideal for use with all flat panel displays. It works in a variety of room configurations, including corner placement. The elegant, self-contained design makes additional speakers and wires entirely unnecessary. YSP1 will appeal to anyone with a desire for true multi-channel sound from a neat, uncluttered, unobtrusive home theatre system.

Easy to Install & Simple to Use
YSP1 easily connects to existing components with its two optical (digital), one coaxial (digital), and two stereo (analog) inputs. The preset remote can also control TVs and DVD players. For advanced customization, an RS-232C interface has been incorporated into the design. Although a subwoofer is not required, a subwoofer output is provided.

 It's No Magic Trick
Long before we became known for audio equipment, Yamaha was a music company renowned for making some of the most impressive pianos in the world. We have become the world’s largest producer of musical instruments and are also a leader and innovator in the field of electronic instruments. In short we are a company driven by a love of natural sound, and a mandate to improve it.

Which is why we do not take the design and production of home audio components lightly and the YSP1 is no exception. This single component houses 42 transducers, each driven by a separate digital amplifier, to create a true multi-channel surround sound environment minus all the extra speakers.

 These Walls Can Talk
The digital sound projector technology used in this compact system uses the reflective properties of your walls to create true multi-channel surround sound in virtually any small, medium, or large-sized room.

A Revolution in Multi-channel Home Cinema?
42 speakers certainly sounds impressive, but it does beg the question of “can’t anyone put a bunch of speakers in a box and call it a revolution?”

 The Simple Answer
No. While it is true that anyone could line up multiple speakers in an array to create impressive sound, when it comes to multi-channel surround sound, it’s not just a numbers game.

 It's All About Timing
Each of the 42 speakers housed in the sleek and elegant YSP1 is individually driven by it’s own digital amplifier, and a patented Digital Sound Projection technology specifically designed to control the direction and delay of the sound. By focusing the sound into ”beams” and controlling the speaker delay times, the listener perceives the sounds to be coming from additional speakers placed throughout the room.

The time delay, volume level, and phase of each speaker driver is controlled by the Digital Sound Projection (DSP) circuit. The DSP circuit, unique to Yamaha, allows the YSP1 to precisely aim the sound beams for an optimum effect. These direct and reflected sound waves produce true multi-channel surround sound in virtually any room.
